What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a site can place on your device to remember information between visits. "Similar technologies" covers things like browser local storage, which works differently under the hood but serves a comparable purpose — remembering something about your visit.

What we use, and why

• Strictly necessary. Technologies required for the Site to function at a basic level (for example, remembering your theme or basic session state, where applicable). These don't require consent under most cookie laws because the Site can't work properly without them.
• Local storage (functional). We use your browser's local storage — not a cookie, but similar in effect — to remember the books you've marked "I want to read this." This lives entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers.
• Analytics. If analytics tooling (such as PostHog) is active, it may set cookies or use local storage to distinguish returning visitors and measure usage in aggregate — which pages are visited, which filters are used, which books get clicked.

We do not use cookies to serve you third-party advertising on this Site.

How to control cookies

Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings — the exact steps vary by browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.), but are usually under Privacy/Security settings. You can also clear your browser's local storage from the same settings area, which will remove your saved "want to read" list.

Blocking cookies entirely may affect how well the Site works, though the core recommendation experience will still function, since it doesn't require an account or login.

As the technologies we use change (for example, if we enable analytics or add new third-party tools), we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
